PTAANZ welcomes its 100th member, doubling in size in just 3 years
The Public Transport Association Australia New Zealand (PTAANZ) has welcomed global infrastructure and mobility company Egis as its 100th member, marking a major milestone as the organisation doubles in size in just three years.
PTAANZ represents a workforce of more than 150,000 people across the multi-billion-dollar public transport industry and is the premier peak industry body for public transport and sustainable mobility in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
PTAANZ Chair Sally Stannard said the milestone reflected the growing importance of collaboration as cities and regions respond to population growth, connecting communities and helping their cities and regions thrive.
“Public transport is entering a defining decade across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Investment is accelerating, community expectations are rising and the industry is working together in collaborative new ways,” Ms Stannard said.
“With cost-of-living pressures front of mind for many households, reliable, accessible and affordable public transport networks play an important role in keeping people connected to jobs, education and essential services without adding to household costs. Reaching 100 members highlights the strength of the sector and the value of bringing leaders together to champion ideas and help shape the future of mobility.”
PTAANZ Chief Executive Lauren Streifer said the organisation’s rapid growth reflected the scale of opportunity in the region.
“In just three years we have almost doubled the size of the association, reflecting the strong momentum across Australia and New Zealand’s public transport industry,” Ms Streifer said.
Egis is supporting the Brisbane Metro by independently verifying its fleet of 60 all-electric, zero-emissions vehicles and charging infrastructure, helping deliver a greener more accessible public transport network.
“Through PTAANZ, Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand’s transport leaders work together at one top table across every sustainable mode – rail, bus, ferries, light rail and active transport – focused on delivering the future our communities and growing cities and regions deserve. We connect our region’s leaders with global leaders tackling the biggest climate, customer and mobility challenges of our time.”
Tommy Parker, Director – Advisory, Operations and Asset Management at Egis, said the company was pleased to join the association.
“Egis is delighted to join the PTAANZ community. PTAANZ plays an important role in bringing together public transport authorities, operators and industry partners to help shape the future of mobility across Australia and New Zealand,” Mr Parker said.
“For Egis, as a designer, integrator, operator and asset manager of public transport infrastructure, membership provides a valuable platform to collaborate with peers, contribute to industry conversations and share our global expertise.
“We look forward to working with the PTAANZ community to support innovation, strengthen knowledge exchange and help advance world-class public transport.”
PTAANZ looks forward to welcoming more members and continuing to bring the sector together through research, policy engagement, industry events and thought leadership to support modern, integrated and sustainable transport networks across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
